get to know katharine
After earning my degree in Interior Design from East Carolina University in 2014, I moved to Wilmington, NC and entered the design world. Inspired by my time and work with a designer and custom home builder in Wrightsville Beach and on Figure 8 Island, I decided to dive all in and create my own design company, Sixth and Steel, in 2018.
I believe that “you should always want to come home” and use this principle to guide my design work. My philosophy on creating a home that is truly YOU—whether that be casual and calm, eclectic and collected, minimal and relaxed—is to empower you to say yes! to the things that excite you. The tile, the fixtures, the fabric! Sometimes, it’s all about those little details. I’m excited to build strong relationships with clients to learn and understand their needs and wants for their space.
I always dreamed of living at the beach with my dog, Tyson, who is a total wild child. We have been living the dream for the last eight years; creating, designing and growing relationships along the way. When I'm not designing, I'm either at the beach, eating tacos, or finding new walking trails with Tyson.
Let’s do this!
